Designed to help protect children and pets, this rust-proof all-aluminum safety gate works great for the top of a stairway. The unit's latch system provides one-handed operation for adults, and its stop bracket prevents opening over a stairway for additional safety. The actual gate measures 27-3/4 inches tall. Installing it 1-3/4 inches off the floor provides a suggested mounted height of 29-1/2 inches (mount no higher than 4 inches off the floor for toddler safety). The gate's width can be adjusted to fit openings from 27 to 42-1/2 inches, with extensions available for wider areas. Extensions include a 10-1/2-inch unit for openings 42-1/2 to 53 inches, as well as a 21-3/4-inch unit for openings 42-1/2 to 64 inches. The safety gate comes with sturdy mounting hardware and will mount at angles up to 30 degrees, allowing location of a stud when mounting on drywall. Other highlights include quick gate release for removing the gate from the mounts for special occasions and a tough, powder-coated, non-toxic finish, which provides a long-lasting, easy-to-clean surface. Clear instructions are included to ensure quick, simple installation. The gate measures 27 to 42-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 27-3/4 inches and carries a one-year warranty against mechanical defects.
